The Nervous System Lab is a collection of tools designed to help your body come out of that state and feel safe again.

We use a mix of approaches—1:1 sessions, guided practices, group experiences, and simple education— to help you understand what’s happening in your body and gently shift it.

It’s a bridge between science and lived experience. Between what you’ve been told— and what actually works.

The Lab Technician

The Nervous System lab is run by James Milligan.

This work is less about “fixing” you, and more about creating the conditions for your nervous system to change.

Sessions are direct, focused, and adapted to what your system is actually doing— not a script or protocol.

  • Individual 60-minute sessions focused on understanding and shifting the patterns your nervous system is currently running— including but not limited to chronic pain, anxiety, and sleep disruption

  • Each session is unique to your situation

  • Bookable after assessment questionnaire approval and a free 15-minute “Fit Call”

NYC Group Safety Lab Sessions

  • Group sessions designed to release excess survival energy

  • 60-minute music-guided experience

  • A nervous system synchronization and release, not a dance performance

  • Available to all without prior approval

Meet the Lab Technician

James Milligan

Hello, friendly humans. I’m James.

Like you, I’m just someone trying to be happy, do meaningful work, and live a good life.

My journey started with chronic lower back pain that slowly took over my life. It eventually landed me in the ER in an ambulance with a numb leg. I couldn’t work, and after seeing countless doctors and physical therapists, nothing helped.

After over ten years of pain, I hit rock bottom. I knew I had to look outside the usual answers.

That’s when I found Pain Reprocessing Therapy. To my surprise, it worked. My pain began to fade.

What I learned changed everything: nervous systems can send very real, often scary symptoms when they’re stuck in danger mode. In my case, that showed up as chronic pain.

As I learned to calm that system, my back steadily improved. And other symptoms began to fade too.

That experience turned me into an outside-the-box thinker who doesn’t settle for answers that don’t actually work.

Now I teach others how to do it.

I’m not a doctor or a therapist— just someone who spent years stuck in pain and found a way out.
